Summer is Sizzling in the Artisans Gallery

The weather's getting hotter, the summer season is in full swing, and the Gallery has been buzzing with activity. We're excited about many events coming up in the next few months and wanted to share highlights of our summer schedule.

On June 27, the gallery will host an Art on the Porch event from 11:00 a.m.- 3:00 p.m. featuring the work of several of our talented artists including sculptor, Kristine Koval, and photographer, Pat Guziewicz.

As locals and repeat visitors know, July 4th is a renowned, major annual event in Southport with celebrations going on over multiple days. The Artisans Gallery, normally closed on Mondays, will be open on Monday, June 29 from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. for "Celebrating Art in Southport" Day. Stop by and paint rocks with some of our members from 11:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. They make a colorful addition to place in your garden or around town for others to find. There's also a special patriotic art display in the front room of the first floor featuring paintings, glass work, textile arts and other pieces celebrating the red, white and blue. Please note that the gallery will be closed on Saturday, July 4 and will reopen on Sunday.

Due to the July 4th holiday weekend festivities, there will not be a First Friday event on July 3. Our next First Friday event will be on August 7, featuring photographer Kate Magill Walters and sculptor Kristine Koval. Come to the gallery to meet these two talented artists and see their work exhibited on our first floor. You can also enjoy live music on our porch, complimentary appetizers and wine, and the opportunity to check out the works of all our talented artists.

The wall art in the Gallery gets refreshed every two months. All new wall art will be on display starting July 20.

And last but certainly not least, please mark your calendar for our signature large event for the summer, the Artisans Summer Marketplace! It will be held on July 17 and 18 at the Homer E. Wright Events Center on Southport-Supply Road across from the St. James main gate in Southport. Get out of the heat and come inside to shop for handcrafted jewelry, paintings, pottery, glass and other artwork by many of our talented artisans. Check our Facebook and Instagram accounts for sneak peeks of what will be on sale at the marketplace.
